Rainham is a village, four miles from Rochester, east, and six miles from Sittingbourne, west. The population in 1851 was 1,155. The church is a handsome building, and stands close to the high road. The living is a vicarage, in the gift of the Archbishop of Canterbury, and incumbency of the Rev. John POORE, D.D..
Lower Rainham and Rainham Quay are one mile north; Moor Street, half a mile east; Cozenton, half a mile north; Muckland, half a mile north; Metley Hill, two miles N.E.; Silvain, half a mile south; Sharp Green and Tweedale, two miles N.W., have a quay; Berengrave, Desborough, and Mardale, are places near here.
