Sergeant - 201075, 7th Bn., The Buffs (East Kent Regiment).  Son of Ernest Mark ATTWATER and Eliza Ann ATTWATER (nee Tyler).  Born:  January - March 1897 (Free BMD), in Milton District.  Died:  September 29, 1917, in Ypres, France.  Buried:  Cemetery of NINE ELMS BRITISH CEMETERY Poperinge, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.  Grave or Reference Panel Number: II. D. 9. (Commonwealth War Graves Commission).  1901 Census:  16 Murston Road, Sittingbourne, Kent, England.  Engaged to Dora Higgins at the time of his death.  Ernest was killed in an aerial attack, a year before his brother Bertie.  A German plane swooped down over the British lines and dropped four bombs, which killed and wounded many besides Ernest.
