Description Writer: Batchelor, Susan, widow
Her former husband, John Cole, one of the late King's servants, held a lease of dean and chapter properties in Canterbury. She then married Christopher Batchelor, minister of Kingsdown and Tong, (Christopher Batcheler, A. M. Vicar of Tonge March 27, 1627, In 1627 by dispensation rector of Kingsdown near Sittingborne. See Rym. FÅ. vol. xviii. p. 1007. Also, Record of Kingsdown-near-Sittingbourne October 30, 1623.) who was persecuted for his loyalty to the Crown and had to leave his livings. She has difficulty keeping the houses in repair. There are still 9 years to run on the leases. Asks for them to be renewed for 40 years. [Date: lease renewed in 1661 (DCc/BB 74/196)]

A brass plate near the step, close to the altar rails, for Christopher Bachelor, late of this parish, and Katherine, his wife, daughter of Harbert Finch, gent. they both died in 1604; arms, On a bend, three fleurs de lis, between three wings. A brass plate, with the arms of Finch; the figure and inscription lost.
