In the name of God, Amen, the fourteenth day of June in the fifteenth year of the reign of our sovereign Lord James by the grace of God King of England, France and Ireland, defender of the faith, etc and Scotland the fiftith [sic] and in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred and seventeen, I, PETER WOODLAND, of the parish of Braborne, in the County of Kent, yeoman, being sick and weak of body yet of good and perfect memory (God be praised therefore) do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following,
And first I commend my soul into the hands of almighty God and my body to be buried in the earth.
Item, I give unto the poor people inhabiting within the said parish of Braborne ten shillings to be distributed amongst them on the day of my funeral at the discretion of my Executor.
Item, I give unto ANN my wellbeloved wife all such household stuff as was hers at the time when I was married unto her (except one joined bedstead in the chamber over the parlor).
Item, I give unto her my said wife half the hemp now growing on my land, half a seam of wheat, four bushels of malt, thirty pounds of cheese, one crock of butter containing two gallons and a quart and two quarters of lamb wool.
Item, I give unto her my said wife one annuity or annual rent of eight pounds by the year that is four pounds yearly to be issuing and going out of my lands and tenements hereafter given unto JOHN my son and four pounds yearly to be issuing and going out of my lands hereafter given unto CLEMENT my son, to have, receive, preceive, take and enjoy and the said annuity or annual rent of eight pounds by the year out of my lands and tenements aforesaid to her the said ANN and her assigns for and during her natural life at four usual feats or terms in the year, that is to say at the feasts of the Nativity of St. John Baptist, St. Michael the Archangel, the Nativity of our Lord Christ and the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary by even and equal portions to be paid the first payment thereof to begin at such of the said feasts as shall first happen to be next after my decease. And if it shall happen the said four pounds by the year before willed to be had and levied out of the said lands and tenements hereafter given unto the said JOHN my son or any part thereof or the said four pounds by the year before willed to be had and levied out of the lands hereafter given unto the said CLEMENT my son or any parts thereof to be behind and unpaid at any of the feasts days aforesaid in which the same as is aforesaid ought to be paid that then and so often it shall and may be lawful to and for the said ANN or her assigns into the lands and tenements of him so being behind to enter and distrain for the same and the distress and distresses there found and taken lawfully from thence to lead, drive and carry away and the same to detain and keep until the said annuity or annual rent together with the arrearages of the same (if any be) with al the costs, damages, losses and expenses in that behalf sustained be unto her the said ANN or her assigns fully contented, satisfied and paid.
Item, I give unto STEPHEN STROUDE and RICHARD STROUDE the sons of JAMES STROUDE and of the said ANN my wife to each of them five pounds to be paid unto them by the said CLEMENT my son within one year next after my decease they the said STEPHEN and RICHARD entering into bond of twenty pounds to the said CLEMENT for the payment of twenty shillings yearly unto the said ANN my wife during her natural life that is, each of them ten shillings.
Item, I give unto JOAN my daughter, the wife of EPHRAIM PUNNETT three and thirty pounds six shillings and eight pence of lawful money of England to be paid unto her by my Executor hereafter named within three months next after my decease.
Item, I give and bequeath unto JANE my daughter one hundred pounds of lawful money of England to be paid unto her by my said Executor within three months next after my decease.
Item, I give unto PETER CHIESMAN my servant an ewe lamb.
The residue of all my goods and chattels I give and bequeath unto the said CLEMENT my son whom I make my sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament.

And as concerning my lands and tenements this is also the last Will and Testament of me the said PETER WOODLAND made and declared the day and year first above written whereby I will, give and bequeath unto JOHN WOODLAND my eldest son my messuage or tenement wherein the said JOHN now dwelleth with all the edifices, buildings, closes, orchards and gardens unto the said messuage belonging and appertaining and also all those several pieces or parcels of land there with all now used and occupied purchased of Johas Hyll, Gent, situate lying and being in the parish of Smethe [sic], in the County of Kent aforesaid.
Item, I give and bequeath unto the said JOHN my son one piece or parcel of meadow land called Lepers Croft containing by estimation two acres situate lying and being in the parish of Wye in the County of Kent aforesaid to have and to hold the said messuage or tenement, buildings, closes, orchards, gardens, and lands lying in Smethe aforesaid and the said piece of meadow land called Lepers Croft with all and every their appurtenances unto the said JOHN WOODLAND my son, his heirs, assigns, forever.
Item, I give and bequeath unto CLEMENT WOODLAND my son, three pieces of land situate lying and being in the parish of Wye aforesaid and all other my lands in the said parish of Wye (except the said piece of meadow land called Lepers Croft before willed and bequeathed unto the said JOHN my son) to have and to hold all my said lands and tenements situate lying and being in Wye aforesaid (except before excepted) unto the said CLEMENT WOODLAND my son, his heirs and assigns forever.
