A NARROW ESCAPE
A labourer, who is engaged haying at Nagdeu, walked into Faversham, on Monday evening, and when returning after dark missed his way in the neighbourhood of the Iron Wharf, and walked over the quay into the creek. He floundered about in the mud and water and managed to reach a barge's rudder, but could not climb up. The tide began to rise, and the man's life was in danger, when Archibald Duncan, returning from fishing with the flood at half-past one in the morning, saw him and rescued him.
