      IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, on the 23rd day of November in the fourteenth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland King, defender of the faith, and so forth and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty, I, RICHARD WALKER, of the parish of Bethersden, in the County of Kent, grocer, being in health in body and sound and perfect mind and memory praised be Almighty God for it, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say,

      First and principally I commend my Soul into hands of Almighty God that gave it hoping through the merits death and passion of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to have full pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life and bliss and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter mentioned, and as touching all my temporal estate that it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow on me I order and dispose thereof as follows:

      I give and bequeath unto JOHN WALKER of New Romney, son of my brother JOHN WALKER of New Romney, deceased, one silver tobacco box marked on the bottom with RICH'D WALKER and one silver watch that I bought of my sister MARGARET WILKER [sic].

      I also give and bequeath unto my dear wife, MARY WALKER, all that one messuage and tenement together with one yard orchard and gardens thereunto belonging where I now dwell lying in Bethersden Street and also all the rest of my moveable goods and chattles whatsoever it hath please God to bestow on me and debts to me owing after all my debts and funeral charges are paid unto my dear wife, MARY WALKER aforesaid.

      Also I make, ordain and appoint my dear wife, MARY WALKER, my and sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament and I do revoke and make void all other Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made or declared.

      I the said RICHARD WALKER, the Testator, have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal dated the day and year first above written.

      THE before registered Will of RICHARD WALKER deceased was proved the 24th day of July 1744 before the Rev'd William Gostling, Clerk, lawful Surrogate to the Worshipful Edward Simpson, doctor of laws, official general to the Right Rev'd the Archdeacon of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of MARY WALKER, relict of the deceased and sole Executrix named in the said Will to whom administration of the goods, etc of the deceased was committed, she being first sworn duly to execute the same.

      Nicolas WALKER of this parish March ye 30, 1740 aged 72. Elizabeth his wife April ye 8, 1743 aged 71. Left issue 3 sons and 1 daughter of whom onely Nicolas and Elizabeth are surviving.
