    1. [S34] Parish Register, England, Kent: Church of England, Canterbury Cathedral Archives, (U.S.A., Salt Lake City: Genealogical Society of Utah), Throwley, Kent, England, 24 Dec 1787.
George Tharp, bachelor of Throwley married Sarah Downe, widow of Throwley 24 Dec 1778. Witnesses. Susanna Elvy, Sarah Smith, William Hoy, George Kingston and Joseph Le Cras.
The bride in this marriage was not previously married at Throwley and there appeared to be no children christened at Throwley of a Downe couple with a wife named Sarah or Mary. Additionally, each of the witnesses seem to have some connection to other marriages related to Lucy Ruck, daughter of Thomas Ruck and Elizabeth Broadbridge. William Hoy and Ann Hoy appear as witnesses on the marriage of Lucy Ruck to Henry Smith who was of Throwley. Susanna Elvy on her marriage to John Chambers of Badlesmere on 19 Jan 1790 (at Throwley) have witnesses Mary Tharp, George Tharp and William Hoy. William Hoy and Ann Hoy also appear as witnesses on the marriage on 29 Nov 1791 of Thomas Woolley to Ann Jenkinson, both of whom were of Throwley. See also marriage of Lucy Ruck to Henry Smith.
