      Will of JOHN RUCK, of Milton-next-Sittingbourne, 12 November 1751



      IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I, JOHN RUCK, of Milton-next-Sittingborne [sic], in the County of Kent, dredgerman, being in pretty good health of body and of perfect memory and understanding but considering the uncertain continuance of my life, do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say:


      I GIVE AND DEVISE unto my loving wife, ELIZABETH, all that my piece or parcel of land containing by estimation three acres, be the same more or less, now planted with hops together with the oast house, stowages and other buildings thereon situate and being at Celler Hill in the parish of Teynham, in the County aforesaid and which was devised to me by my late father’s Will, to have and to hold the said land, oast and other buildings thereon unto my said wife, her heirs and assigns forever.


      ALSO I GIVE AND BEQUEATH unto my said wife all my goods, chattels, rights and credits whatsoever and wheresoever the same may be she paying thereout all my just debts and I MAKE AND APPOINT my said wife sole Executrix of the [sic] my last Will and Testament.


      IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and seal the twelfth day of November in the twenty-fifth year of the reign of our Sovereign, Lord George the second, by the grace of God, of Great Britain, France and Ireland King, defender of the faith, etc. and in the year of our Lord one thousand, seven hundred and fifty-one.

      The before registered Will of JOHN RUCK, deceased, was proved the seventh day of May 1755 before the worshipful John Head, Doctor of Divinity, Archdeacon of Canterbury by the oath of ELIZABETH RUCK the sole Executrix named in the said Will being first sworn duly to perform the same, etc.
