      Thomas Milsted served in Fermoy, Curragh, Edinburgh and Glasgow. During his time in Curragh during 1883 and 1884 he was treated for primary syphilis. He was later treated for jaundice believed to be associated to the syphilis in 1885. In 1887 while at Glasgow he was diagnosed wit hypertorphy of the heart which was severe and he was invalided out.
