IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN, the 13th day of August in the year of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ one thousand six hundred twenty and seven and in the third year of the reign of our most gracious sovereign Lord Charles by the grace of God, King of England, Scotland, France and Ireland, Defender of the faith and so forth, I, MARY RUCKE, of the parish of Norton in the County of Kent, widow, being weak of body yet in perfect mind and memory thanks be to God for the said do declare, ordain and make by these presents wherein is verified and declared this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say,
First I will and bequeath my soul into the hands of the Almighty eternal and everliving God my merciful maker and unto Jesus Christ my only Saviour and redeemer and my body to be buried in the churchyard of the parish of Boughton under the Blean so near as conveniently may be unto my husband there buried.
Item, I will and bequeath unto my three daughters MARY GREENSTREET, widow, MARTHA WHATMAN and ISZABELL CARTER, all my linen to be equally divided betwixt them to be delivered by my Executor within two months next after my decease,
Item, I will and bequeath to NICHOLAS PORDAGE, my son, one ring of gold price 20 shillings.
Item, I will and give unto the other of my son, THOMAS PORDAGE, his children 5 shillings a piece that is to say the three eldest, SUSAN, SARA and MARY, to be paid within half a year next after my decease by my Executor and THOMAS, WILLIAM, ALICE and ANN to be paid when they come to their several ages of 21 years by my Executor.
Item, all the residue of my goods before unbequeathed I give unto JOSIAS RUCKE, my son, whom I do make and ordain my sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament he paying all my debts and legacies and to see my body decently buried and my will is that Mr. Plaise of Boughton aforesaid shall preach my funeral sermon and for his pains I give him 20 shillings and I give to his daughter, MARY PLAISE, 5 shillings if she be living after my decease.
This is the last Will of me, MARY RUCKE, dated the day and year above written.
