IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN, the seventh day of April in the year of our Lord Christ, one thousand six hundred and eight and twenty, I, SIMON RUCKE, the elder, of the parish of Sheldwich in the County of Kent, yeoman, sick in body but whole in mind and of good and perfect remembrance, (God be therefore thanked), do make and ordain my last Will and Testament in manner and form following.
First, I commend my soul unto the hands of God, my creator and redeemer, and my body to be buried in the chancel of the parish church of Sheldwich aforenamed as near to the body of my father JOHN RUCKE as conveniently may be.
Item, I give to the poor people of the parish of Sheldwich aforenamed four pounds of current money of England to be distributed unto them by my Executor within one whole year next after my decease.
Item, I give to the poor people of the parish of Selling in the foresaid County twenty shillings of current money of England to be distributed unto them by mine Executor within one whole year next after my decease.
Item, I give to JOAN my wife one hundred pounds of current money of England, to be paid her by my Executor every year twenty pounds for five years together next after my decease and I give to JOAN my wife the use of chamber and where I lie and of all the furniture and household stuff therein being, during the whole term of her natural life.
Item, I give to JOAN my wife six pair of sheets, one dozen of table napkins with indifference as they use.
Item, I will that my said wife shall have the sowing of one peck of hempseed yearly and the fruit of four apple trees in my orchard which stand in a row together fronting up to the common eastward, during the whole term of her natural life with the use of the oven, garden, and fire for her necessary wants.
Item, I give to my sister ELLENOR PARAMOUR twenty shillings to be paid her by my Executor within one whole year next after my decease.
item, I give to my sister MARIE SILVER twenty shillings to be paid her by my Executor within one whole year next after my decease.
Item, I give to my sister DENNIS ADAMS twenty shillings to be paid her by my Executor within one whole year next after my decease.
Item, I give to EDWARD [PARAMOUR the son] of DANIELL PARAMOUR forty shillings to be paid him by my Executors [when he attains the age of] twenty years.
Item, I give to SIMON PARAMOUR the son of DANIELL [PARAMOUR .........] shillings at his age of twenty years to be paid him by my [Executor].
[Item, I give] to my servant ANN HARRIS forty shillings to be paid her [within] one whole year next after my decease.

Item, I give to my servant EDWARD HOWESSE [entirely faded out] by my Executor within one whole year next after [my decease].

Item, I give to my servant THOMAS SLADDEN five [shillings to be paid him] within one year next after my decease by my Executor.
Always provided that all my foresaid servants shall serve out their several times for which they have covenanted according to bargain made with them or else they shall not have the legacies before bequeathed.
Item, I give to my Godsons, SIMON PARAMOUR the elder and SIMON PARAMOUR his son, fifteen shillings, ten to the father and five to the child.
Item, I give to the four children of my nephew JOHN RUCKE ten shillings apiece to be paid by my Executor.
Item, I give to ANN STRODE the wife of RICHARD STRODE ten shillings to be paid her by my Executors within one whole year next after my decease.
Item I give to ANN RUCKE the daughter of CIRRIACK RUCK five marks of currant money of England which is in the hands of the said CIRRIACK her father and due unto me.
Item, I give to all the residue of my Godchildren twelve pence apiece.
Item, I give to my cousin THOMAS OLIVER and NICHOLAS his son one bond wherein they stand bound unto me in twelve pounds for the payment of six pounds and five shillings, bearing date the 17th of March 1624 [Old Style, so being 1624/25].
Item, I give my nephew JOHN RUCK 10s to be paid him by my Executor within one whole year next after my decease.
Item, I give to MARGARET DILET the wife of ANDREW DILET [sic: should be DILNOT] twenty shillings to be paid her by my Executor within one whole year next after my decease.
Item, I give to TOMSYN LILLIE, the wife of RICHARD LILLIE 10s to be paid her by my Executor within one whole year next after my decease.
All the residue of my goods, money, cattle and household stuff, my debts, legacies and funeral discharged, I give to my son SIMON RUCKE, whom I make sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament.
Also, this is the last Will and Testament of me the aforenamed SIMON RUCKE the elder touching the disposition of all my tenements and lands situate lying and being in the parishes of Chilham and Sheldwich or wheresoever else.
First, I give to my son SIMON RUCKE one tenement with the barn, orchard and other the appurtenances thereto belonging and two and twenty acres of land be there more or less thereof with the appurtenances all situated lying and being in the parishes of Sheldwich and Chilham aforenamed to my said son SIMON and his heirs forever.
Item, I give to JOAN my wife the whole profits of my two tenements and all the edifices and building, gardens, closes and orchards thereto belonging and of twelve acres of land with the appurtenances all in the parish of Chilham aforenamed during the whole term of her natural life she keeping the said tenements in good reparations and committing no spoil nor waste upon the said lands and after the decease of JOAN my wife I give them my two last said tenements and twelve acres of land with the appurtenances to my said son SIMON and his heirs forever.
