Will of John Ruck of Boughton under Blean, Gentleman, 7 January 1661/62, proved 15 April 1662.
IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN, the 7th day of January 1661, I, JOHN RUCK, of the parish of Boughton under the Blean, in the County of Kent, Gentleman, being sick of body but of good, perfect memory, God be praised for it, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following:
First, I bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God my creator and redeemer and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named.
Inprimis, I give to the poor of the parish of Boughton three pounds.
Item, I give to my sister, ELIZABETH CURD, fifty pounds to be paid to her within one twelve month after my decease.
Item, I give to my sister, SUSANNE BRAZEOUR, fifty pounds to be paid to her within one twelve month after my decease.
Item, I give and devise unto my sister, ELIZABETH CURD, and to her heirs forever the moiety of all my lands in the parish of Ash or elsewhere in the County of Kent now or late in the tenure and occupation of Thomas Hatcher or his assigns and the other moiety of the said lands I give and devise to my sister, SUSANNE, and her heirs forever.
Item, I give to my AUNT POLLARD five pounds.
Ite, I give to my uncle, THOMAS GOODYEARE, one pound.
Item, to my cousin, MARY HAWKINS, and my cousin, THOMAS HAWKINS, four pounds a piece.
Item, I give to my cousin, SHE [sic] HAWKINS, of Nash one pound to buy her a ring.
Item, I give to MARY BLAKE and ELIZABETH JOYE, forty shillings a piece.
Item, I give to my cousin, the widow HAWKINS, one ring of twenty shillings price and to all her children twenty shillings a piece.
Item, I give to my cousin MARY HARRIS, MARGARET CLARKESON, AGNES [surname left blank], JOHN OLDNOT twenty shillings a piece.
Item, I give to my HAWKINS, his men and boys, to each, five shillings a piece.
Item, I give unto JOHN WALLARD’S family ten shillings.
Item, I give to my cousin WILLIAM PETTYT, his wife, my cousin THOMAS PETTYT and my cousin FRANCIS PETTYT, to each, ten shillings a piece to buy rings for my sake.
Item, I give to my dear friend MR. THOMAS ASHTON the sum of twenty pounds and to his wife the sum of forty shillings, the residue of my goods and chattels not hereby disposed of, my funeral charges and legacies first satisfied and paid I give to my loving cousin JOHN HAWKINS, Esq. who, I make sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby revoke all former Wills heretofore made by me.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have to this my last Will and Testament put my hands and seal the day and year above written.
