Chillenden

Chillenden is, ecclesiastically, in the diocese of Canterbury, in the archdeaconry of Canterbury and in the deanery of Bridge.  The church is named All Saints with registers commencing 1559.

Chillenden, a parish in Eastry district, Kent;  2-3/4 miles east-north-east of Adisham rail station, and 6-1/2 miles west of Deal.  Post town, Goodnestone, under Sandwich.  Acres, 196.  Population in 1861, 127.  Houses, 29.  The parish gave name to a famous prior of Canterbury, who died in 1411.

The living is a rectory in the diocese of Canterbury.  Value, £130 with a habitable glebe house.  Patron, the Lord Chancellor.  The church belonged to the priory of Leeds;  and is a very small late Norman structure, with east perpendicular windows. 1
