ThrowleyThrowley is, ecclesiastically, in the diocese of Canterbury, in the archdeaconry of Canterbury and in the deanery of Ospringe. The church is named for St. Michael & All Saints with registers commencing 1557. Throwley, a parish in Faversham district, Kent; 4 miles south-south-west of Faversham rail station. It has a post office under Faversham. Acres, 3,180. Real property in 1860, £3,573. Population in 1861, 635. Houses, 138. The manors belong to Lord Sondes and Lord Harris. A Benedictine priory, a cell to St. Omers in Frances, was here; and was given to Sion abbey. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Canterbury. Value, £300 with a habitable glebe house. Patron, the Archbishop. The church was restored in 1867, at a cost of £3,000. There are a Wesleyan chapel and three almshouses.1 1John Marius Wilson, comp.
