Ringwould is, ecclesiastically, in the diocese of Canterbury, in the archdeaconry of Canterbury and in the deanery of Sandwich.  The church is named for St. Nicholas with registers commencing 1569.

Ringwould is a village and a parish in Dover district, Kent.  The village stands on high ground near the coast, 3 miles south-south-west of Deal rail station;  is a member of the cinque port liberty of Dover;  was once a market town;  and has a post office under Dover.  The parish contains also the hamlet of Kingsdown;  and comprises 1,657 acres of land, and 110 of foreshore.  Real property in 1860, £5,828,  Population, 846.  Houses, 185.  The property is divided among a few.

There are vestiges of a Roman camp.  Fishing is largely carried on;  and there is a coast guard station.

The living is a rectory in the diocese of Canterbury.  Value, £505 with a habitable glebe house.  Patrons, the Monins family.  The church is handsome.  The vicarage of Kingsdown is a separate benefice.

Kingsdown, is a village and a chapelry in Ringwould parish, Kent.  The village stands on the coast, picturesquely under cliffs, 1-1/2 miles southeast of Walmer, and 3 miles south of Deal rail station;  ranks as an old member of Dover cinque port;  went into decay, but has revived and is increasing;  and has a coast guard station.

The chapelry was constituted in 1850;  and its post town is Dover.  Population in 1861, 508.  Houses, 95.

Traces of an ancient camp, supposed to have been Roman, are in a valley here.

The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Canterbury.  Value, £150 with a habitable glebe house.  Patrons, Trustees.  The church was built and endowed in 1850 by W. Curling, Esq..
