Persons are not bound to attend in person, but they must cause to be produced before the Court proper evidence of their possession or occupation of the property required to entitle them to vote. The time necessary for occupiers to have been in possession is twelve months clear from the 31st of July in each year; for owners of property by purchase, six months; where property is acquired by descent, marriage, or church preferment, the right of voting takes place immediately. Leasehold Estates must have been occupied, or the rents and profits received, twelve calendar months previous to the last day in July.
